FLORAL GUERNSEY SET TO BLOOM FOR ANOTHER THREE YEARS AS SKIPTON GUERNSEY SIGNS NEW SPONSORSHIP AGREEMENT
Skipton Guernsey has guaranteed the future of the Floral Guernsey Show until 2006 with the signing of a further sponsorship agreement earlier this year with the Floral Guernsey Council.
Skipton Guernsey has given substantial financial backing for this much enjoyed annual Guernsey event since 1999. This year, in recognition of its continuing support, an avenue of trees was planted enhancing the path at the entrance of Saumarez Park , the Show’s new venue.
The avenue, called the Skipton Walk, has a selection of 14 different types of Japanese maple, providing a variety of leaf shape and tree form. With a maximum height when fully grown of between 10 and 20 feet, these maples will flourish under the existing canopy of mature trees.
Tony Taylor, Director of Skipton Guernsey said, “Over the years the Floral Guernsey Show has become a favourite event in the island and we are delighted to have been so closely connected with such a successful community activity. We are proud that, with the planting of the new Skipton Walk, our name is associated with something that will both enhance the Show’s new home and give pleasure to all those who use the park in the future.”
John Burley, Chairman of the Floral Guernsey Council said, “Skipton Guernsey’s support for the show has been invaluable and deserved recognition. The Skipton Walk enhances the entrance to the Park, not only during the Show, but also throughout the year, providing a variety of shape and colour to be enjoyed by everyone.’
The Floral Guernsey Show took place this year at new venue Saumarez Park from Thursday 10 to Saturday 12 June 2004 inclusive.
